Goshen is the summer camp we go to every year. We sleep in two person canvas tents on cots. We cook over open fires, goshen provides all the materials for cooking.

Camp Bowman

Camp Bowman is a Boy Scout resident camp located on 450-acre Lake Merriweather. Thomas Jefferson once called this area the "Garden of Eden of the United States." Food service options at Bowman are patrol cooking or heater stack. Youth sleep in two-man tents with cots. Camp is accredited annually by the BSA and must meet State of Virginia requirements as well. Scouts attend with their unit and enjoy all that Scout camp has to offer.

Extreme Scoutcraft: Scouts will be challenged by our tower/monkey bridge/pioneering area. Additional challenges await Scouts at Action Archery where you combine your archery skills with a hike into the woods.

Merit Badges Offered
Aquatics: Canoeing, Rowing, Swimming, Lifesaving, BSA Lifeguard, Sailing (min 13 years old).
Scoutcraft: Orienteering, Camping, Wilderness Survival, Cooking, Pioneering, Hiking, Personal Fitness, First Aid and Sports.
Shooting Sports: Rifle, Archery, Shotgun.
Handicraft: Leatherwork, Basketry, Art, and Woodcarving.
Nature: Environmental Science, Mammals, Reptiles & Amphibians, Nature, Insect Study, Astronomy, Bird Study, Forestry, Geology, Weather, Nature, Fishing, and Soil and Water Conservation.

New Scouts also have the opportunity to participate in the First-Year Camper Program, and troop program features such as rifle shoots, archery shoots, pirate's breakfast, swimming, boating, and volleyball as well as many other additional programs.

The First-Year Camper Program is primarily designed for the Scout who has recently registered and has not been introduced to the Tenderfoot and Second Class advancement requirements. By scheduling time with the First-Year staff they can also cover First Class requirements. Scoutmaster involvement is encouraged and always welcome. From Camp Bowman it's just a short hike to our 65-foot high climbing tower and COPE course.
